Many games also have a certain way to progress through a game, and they won't allow you to deviate from it (like when you try to head back somewhere and the game tells you: 'You don't want to go that way.'), I hate that as a gamer. One other thing I'd like to change is not having a Final Fantasy game that was so 'turn-based', which to me can feel a little un-natural and restrictive (in a game-play sense). I also find the modern Final Fantasy games really cluttered and usually very complicated, involving and demanding. I agree that the math is needed (for things like armor and damage-calculation), but I find that it could be done 'behind the scenes' more, to make the game feel more realistic. One thing I wanted to do differently was to make an open-world Final Fantasy game that wasn't so 'mathematical', by which I mean that there's a lot of statistics and math to deal with and see on the screen. I liked the materia equipping in FF7 and I thought of some improvements on it, which I am glad to see the Final Fantasy Remake did not come up with. Final Fantasy 7 was probably my favorite, but I also like the 'open world' 3rd-person style that Final Fantasy XII had, especially being able to see the enemies, unlike FF7 which used random encounters and enemies were invisible until you encountered them. I have been considering (and re-considering) what style of game-play to use for the fan-game, and I have settled on a sort of style inspired by a cross between Final Fantasy 7 (PS1), and Final Fantasy 12 zodiac edition (PS2). Re-encoding can be done inside Unity, but I don't have the time to waste, especially since there is no noticeable quality increase. The reason I am not using versions after the LTS 2019 version is because the versions of Unity after that require a new codec for videos, requiring me to have to re-encode every single video I use (which is a lot including cut-scenes and video-textures).

I have been trying to get more work done on the WIP fan-game 'FF7-ROTA', currently being made using Unity version 2018 LTS (long-term service version), but will be moved to Unity version 2019 LTS. Minor work was done on a couple of textures, but there is a lot of work that could still be done to improve and even replace the textures.

Repeated attempts to port the model to XPS failed, even with the rig removed (see comments section for details). Two textures were missing, and have been replaced: 'VolcanoCrater1' and 'VolcanoLava1'. I am not totally sure what the rigging is for, but it seems to be connected to key points on the map. рџЊЌFully textured and rigged world-map from Final Fantasy IX.
